Our History

In 1993 a group of former IBMers started UB Serve Inc to service the predecessor to the AS/400, the System 36 and 38 marketplaces. The Detroit roots of our management team are reflected in our corporate culture today across our corporation with an emphasis on creativity, innovation, hard work, and a large premium placed on substance over sizzle, in terms of delivering value to our clients. The foundation underpinning those values is the fact that Synergistic is and always has been owned and operated as a family firm and those values run deep and permeate every aspect of Synergistic.

The company grew from its Waterford, Michigan headquarters expanding to Grand Rapids, St. Louis, Missouri, Kansas City, Kansas. UB Serve leveraged its expertise and staff from its hardware AS/400 roots to include disaster recovery, high availability, and colocation and hosting in managed data centers. By 2000, over 70 percent of UB Serve's revenue was derived from services as the company continued to grow.

In 2005 the corporation developed new services in response to client needs. 400RSM was developed by Synergistic Engineers to provide iSeries based "vaulting" or remote backup solutions utilizing our own hardware and data centers. Perhaps the most well-known solution of the Synergistic Engineering team is SOSD2D: This ground-breaking solution is a data replication solution, a disaster recovery and high availability hybrid, provided at a cost that middle-market organiations can absorb in a business-wise context. SOSD2D has gained recognition as it's being implemented for clients from New York to Los Angeles and certain international markets.

The rapid growth experienced in our AS/400 (iSeries i5) Disaster Recovery, High Availability, and Managed Hosting / Colocation solution groups prompted UB Serve to change its name to reflect this growth, becoming Synergistic Online Solutions (Synergistic) in March of 2004. The deep array of complimentary iSeries services truely provided a greater sum of value than if those services were spread across multiple vendors.

In 2005 Synergistic pushed into large System i (AS/400) markets in New York, New England, The Carolinas, Florida, Texas, and California, adding staff strategically. Synergistic's growth has and will remain self funded without any venture capital or long term debt structures. We have learned over the years that loyal relationships with our clients is paramount and that we succeed by helping our clients succeed.

Our Future:

The future looks extremely bright as new clients from North America to Asia are placing their trust in Synergistic. Synergistic engineers are once again at work creating solutions which will leverage on IBM's recent technological advances in the System i5 and i5OS arena, delivering further efficiencies and adding value to our client base. We're proud of our corporate history that spans 13 years of constant ownership and consistent client service. Synergistic stands unique in a world of enormous conglomerates as a family-owned corporation equipped to service clients worldwide and keeping them on the vanguard of technology.
