SOSD2D
System i5 AS400 High Availabilty is now more a necessity than a luxury. Synergistic engineers created a ground-breaking "highly available" solution: SOSD2D. The solution is a hybrid of disaster recovery and System i5 high availability. Synergistic clients are provided with a dedicated AS400 or partitioned System i with a permanent communications backbone created including all necessary VPN, T1-DSL, and router issues resolved and operational.

Standing in the Gap
Over the past few years, many of our middle market clients expressed a need for a "near high availability" solution, which would keep their backup AS400 iSeries current with data, yet at a significantly lower pricetag than traditional HA. With a Detroit history and culture, Synergistic again rolled up it's collective sleeves and the engineering staff of former IBMers developed SOSD2D. This revolutionary solution effectively "stands in the gap" between disaster recovery AS400 hotsite solutions, and true data replicated high availability solutions at about 60% less than traditional iSeries HA software solutions.
Your AS400 solution may provide you and designated users with desktop connection and access to your backup server residing at a Synergistic Data Center. Add the Synergistic Advantage solution to your solution and you have maximum value proposition for hardware, software, and staffing. SOSD2D may be a good fit for clients that can tolerate 2-3 hours of downtime to arrange the backup AS/400 "failover" and can tolerate losing up to 3-6 hours of data between the production server failure point and last data transmission between production and target servers. The recovery window is about 3-6 hours.
How Does SOSD2D Work?
1) Hardware is fitted to client needs and a designated dedicated AS400 or iSeries i5 partition is assigned to client. Synergistic hardware or LPAR may be utilized or client's hardware.
2) Communication backbone is established, utilizing client protocols, VPN connections, ecrypted routers, and DSL, T1, Frame Relay, and industry specific connectivity such as ANX may be accomodated.
3) Synergistic engineers work closely with client to determine which applications, objects, and data are to be transmitted and at what intervals.
4) Synergistic AS400 Engineers work with client to customize the solution, designating a 4,8,12, or 24 hour data synchronization window, where client's production AS/400 transmits data to their backup AS/400 in the Synergistic Data Center.
5) Solution is implemented and "goes live". Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Annual tests are run to insure viability and accurate data replication. Planned downtimes may be scheduled to be "failed over" to Synergistic Data Center.
6) Upon a disaster declaration, client has an iSeries AS400 high availability solution ready and is just hours away from recovery of operations: The hardware is in place, the communication backbone is established, the data is nearly live.
